EVENT     TUESDAY’S CHILD SUMMER PUB QUIZ

VENUE     THE CROSSKEYS INN, TOOMEBRIDGE

DATE        SATURDAY 18TH JUNE 2011

TIME         7.30  p.m.

Tuesday's Child bbq posterThe Northern Ireland charity, Tuesday’s Child, invites you to a Summer BBQ in The Crosskey Inn, Toomebridge on Saturday 18th June, to raise funds for war –torn children.

Tuesday’s Child helps children living in extreme hardship in 12 areas around the world and gives 100 percent of proceeds. Proceeds of the summer BBQ night will go towards helping war-torn children in the Middle East.

Many people across South Derry kindly donated to the charity’s airlift appeal for babies and children affected by the devastating floods in Pakistan last year.

The Crosskeys is Northern Ireland’s oldest the oldest thatched pub in Northern Ireland. This white-washed, thatched stone built cottage served as a coaching stop on the original Belfast to Derry road and is famed for Irish Traditional Music.

The charity is hoping the sun will shine for what promises to be a great night of music, song, dance, craic and great food. There will be a traditional music session on the night so anyone who wants to join the session is very welcome.

“We are really looking forward to the event and hope to raise lots of money to help war-torn children”, said Orla Sheehan of Tuesday’s Child.

Local businesses have been incredibly generous and supportive of the fundraiser donating some fabulous raffle and spot prizes for the event. Tickets are £10 and available from The Crosskeys Inn or from the online store on the charity website at www.tuesdayshild.org.uk.

One Country Country Spotlight: Democratic Republic of Congo... The recent civil war in eastern DRC has devastated many aspects of life and children are among those most affected. A population size equivalent to that of Ireland, north and south, died either through direct conflict or displacement. Mulongo is a school catering for about 2000 children. The school is one of many decimated during the war. It needs rebuilt and basic school supplies and a playground facility with better salaries to retain underpaid teachers. The Active Christian Evangelism (ACE) Group, lead by Dr Graham Fry, is funding the project; more funds are needed. Other areas in needs are feeding programmes, health promotion programmes and support of a new maternity hospital. Find out more about the Countries we help...
