JAZZ-A FOR GAZA…

NEWS RELEASE • NEWS RELEASE • NEWS RELEASE

Jazz event May 2012It's a wonderful world, but four Donegal Jazz musicians are playing to make it a lot better.
The Met Quartet will bring their unique style to Strabane on Friday May 11th in aid of Tuesday's Child’s Gaza Appeal.
The Evening of Swinging Jazz will help the Belfast-based charity feed the children in Gaza strip. Tuesday’s Child has been helping children in Gaza since 2007 and twinning families in Ireland with families in Gaza. Of the 1.6 million people living in the Gaza strip over 50 percent are children and they are suffering terrible hardship.

"If you are in the mood for a party and want to help someone in need, then come along on Friday to St Patrick's Parish Hall in Strabane," said Orla Sheehan. "You can change the world one note at a time!  It'll be a great night. The Met Quartet are just fabulous and so very generous to donate their time for this gig."

Michael Bradley will be on the piano, accompanied by Mark Bradley with voice and trumpet, with Aidan Dunphy on drums and Peter Doherty on the double bass.
Tickets are £10 and a light supper is included. Doors open at 8.30 p.m.Tickets are available from the charity website at www.tuesdayschild.ie, from the parish office or by phoning Berni Bradley on (00353)74

One Country Country Spotlight: Democratic Republic of Congo... The recent civil war in eastern DRC has devastated many aspects of life and children are among those most affected. A population size equivalent to that of Ireland, north and south, died either through direct conflict or displacement. Mulongo is a school catering for about 2000 children. The school is one of many decimated during the war. It needs rebuilt and basic school supplies and a playground facility with better salaries to retain underpaid teachers. The Active Christian Evangelism (ACE) Group, lead by Dr Graham Fry, is funding the project; more funds are needed. Other areas in needs are feeding programmes, health promotion programmes and support of a new maternity hospital. Find out more about the Countries we help...
